Cities like Chiniot, Gujrat, Peshawar and Gojra are known for producing artisans, who meet challenges with success. While the industry has created skylines, there are major impediments preventing the growth, sustainability and international business. Increased costs, fluctuating economy, consumer ignorance and sound legislation are adding to the instability of furniture market. Pakistan Furniture Council, referred to as PFC is a non-profit organization made by leading furniture and interior entrepreneurs. The organization based on core initiatives to ensure growth of the industry demonstrates its goal to take environmental and corporate responsibilities. Working for the interests of Designers, Manufacturers and Retailers of the industry in Pakistan, PFC invites established and upcoming furniture manufacturers to take the plunge. Pondering upon issues that hinder sustainability and growth, PFC aims to ensure industry friendly legislation such as Tax Regime- Gain Favored Industry Status, prevent use of Shisham in low value added furniture, ensure sustainable forestry and dedicated furniture export promotion zones.
